About

Novus Histoire tells the stories from history that sound made up but aren't. A war that Australia's army fought against emus. A queen who lived closer to the Moon landing than to the pyramids. A soldier who kept fighting in the jungle for decades after his war ended.

We publish short videos every day on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and Facebook. This site holds the full stories behind them, with the numbers, the context and the sources.

How we check our facts

• Every story is built from published sources: encyclopedias, museum and university pages, academic papers and primary texts. We list them at the end of each story.
• We separate what is known from what is estimated, and both from legend. When the sources disagree, we say so.
• Images are public domain or used under an open license, and each one is credited.
• If we get something wrong, we fix it. Send us a correction.
